Issues with resident antivirus and Virtual Box

Post by glookosio »

Good afternoon,
I hope someone can help me solve this problem I'm going to tell you about: after the latest update of my free Avira antivirus, with much dismay, I've found out that it doesn't allow the start of my virtual machines; has anyone else had the same problem, but most of all, is there a work around? I need your help!!
I've already tried to uninstall the antivirus. Without it, I was able to run all the machines as usual. Wanting to be sure, I installed it again, but, with it, the same issue occurred. So I came to the conclusion that it's the latest update of AVIRA FREE ANTIVIRUS that causes some sort of conflict with vitual box.

Thank you in advance

P.S. this is the message I get when I try to start a v. machine: "The virtual machine 'ubuntu 12 04 5' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1). More details may be available in 'C:\Users\gigi\VirtualBox VMs\ubuntu 12 04 5\Logs\VBoxStartup.log'."

Codice 'uscita: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Componente: Machine
Interfaccia: IMachine {480cf695-2d8d-4256-9c7c-cce4184fa048}

Possible workarounds include using Virtualbox version 4.3.12, which is the latest version without security hardening (you'll need to be sure there's no malware on your host). Side effects may be that newest versions of Linux won't run - I don't know if yours is among the affected versions.

Before you do anything, post logs & this issue on the linked thread.
