Cannot connect to domain!
Cannot connect to domain!
I have VB set up and have tried every network configuration I can think of. I have all necessary files installed and am on a domain and it is visible I just cannot connect! What are the VB settings that need to be set for this to work? It has been weeks of trying

Re: Cannot connect to domain!
Bridged and the right DNS settings. Other than that you need permission to be able to join. Also setting it to domain instead of workgroup just in case you forgot.
Re: Cannot connect to domain!
All of my internal settings are correct and when I change from workgroup to domain it doesn't connect even those you can ping everything. Nothing in the windows settigns is incorrect. What should the network setting be? I have a domain controller and another VM. Everything is set correctly as a 35 year network admin confirmed only thing I can think of is the VB settings. Any screen shots? Should both VM's be set up the same (bridged)? DNS is fine can ping both machines my address and name

Re: Cannot connect to domain!
Nope. All VirtualBox matters stop the moment you select Bridged. Everything else is a configuration issue or permission issue on the DC.
Re: Cannot connect to domain!
This doesn't help me, and I do not know what that means. So, should it NOT be bridged? I thought there would be more information here,it seemed like whenever it WASN'T set as "bridged" I couldn't connect to the internet. I obviously am not well versed enough to understand what is wrong after a one sentence answerPerryg wrote:Nope. All VirtualBox matters stop the moment you select Bridged. Re: Cannot connect to domain!
Let me explain a little better. If you have selected bridged ( which you should ) then any issues with the domain would be between the guest and the domain. VirtualBox provides the hardware and nothing more. In bridged mode the guest will be just like any PC on the LAN.
