Error In supR3HardenedWinVerifyProcess (rc=-5601)

I've been running VirtualBox flawlessly for a long time without any updates using multiple VMs.
Lats time I ran VB was ~2 a weeks ago. Then today I got the following error upon trying to start VB.
Googling these forums I found several related issues, but non specifically explaining what is the problem. The closest explanation was related to changes done by some recent Windows updates. And surely enough checking my latest Windows Updates was around 2 weeks ago.
As the problem occurred without anything else having been changed in my system since, and the fact that similar issues seem to be present in also the latest versions, I'm reluctant to update to the latest version on VB. My current setup is not running any other 3rd party AV's or FW's other than what's provided by Windows.
I'm also not able find my current startup log file...
Any ideas how to resolve this?
