USB UFD not attaching

Post by HTGS »

Running version 4.3.26 under Win 7 64 bit Professional host, then running Win 7 64 bit Ultimate as guest. VirtualBox works well (performance quite good with 3GB allocated memory) in all but one respect. I cannot successfuly attach a USB UFD. I have installed the 4.3.26 Extension Pack, and the Guest Additions in the guest and enabled USB 2.0. I have created a filter for the UFD. When the UFD is plugged in the guest grabs it (correct) and it appears in the Devices menu list (correct). When the guest is powered down the drive is released and re-captured by the host (also correct).

The problem is that the drive does NOT appear in guest's Windows Explorer even when successfully grabbed.

I am a newbie to Virtual PCs so please excuse relatively little experience here. What am I doing incorrectly?

What on earth is a UFD? A special device of sorts?

I think it stands for USB Flash Drive. Redundant I know. :)

IMHO: UFD stands for Usb Flash Drive. Adding USB to the front is redundant but a lot of people place it there.

Like we say "I'm teaching at the Redundancy Department of Redundancy"? :D

To be fair, "USB UFD" is clearer to me than UFD alone.

To the OP: you may find that creating a shared folder on a removable drive is a lot more reliable than getting the USB passthrough feature involved.
