Oracle crashes after switching to fullscreen
Oracle crashes after switching to fullscreen
Hi,
My Virtualbox crashes when switching to fullscreen & it gives me this error:
"The instruction at 0x00000000 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written.
Click OK to terminate the program"
I'm using 4.3.26 r98988 version
First I thought maybe low video memory was causing it, & raised it to maximum, but it didn't help. I'm giving my virtual machine 8GB. What else can I doto fix this issue?

Re: Oracle crashes after switching to fullscreen
unless your host has 32GB RAM, 8GB RAM assigned to a guest is excessive. You should assign approx. 1/2 of the available RAM to a guest, not the total RAM.

I didn't assing total ram, I have 16gb. Thought half of it would be fair. Will lower it & see it helps.loukingjr wrote:unless your host has 32GB RAM, 8GB RAM assigned to a guest is excessive. You should assign approx. 1/2 of the available RAM to a guest, not the total RAM.

if you look at the vbox.log it will tell you how much available RAM you have. Use approx. half that.

vbox.log says: "00:00:00.932140 Host RAM: 16324MB total, 13526MB available"loukingjr wrote:if you look at the vbox.log it will tell you how much available RAM you have. Use approx. half that.
I lowered it to 4GB, but still didn't help. Any other options?
Also, I got resolution problem. Installed Windows 7 in Virtualbox, & it doesn't support my monitor's native resolution.

don't know what the native resolution is.
Attach the vbox.log (compressed) here.

According to the vbox.log you posted…
I don't know where you got the Windows 7 .iso but this…
The log is not complete so I can't tell if the guest additions were installed which you need for screen scaling.
Make sure the guest is shutdown before you post the vbox.log.
I'm not sure how you got the previous numbers but try reducing the guest RAM to 2GB.00:00:00.658337 Host RAM: 16324MB total, 5452MB available

does not appear to be an official install .iso00:00:00.719416 File system of 'E:\Softwares\Operating Systems\windows 7 Sp1 Ultimate x64.iso' (DVD) is ntfs

Re: Oracle crashes after switching to fullscreen
Does it crash if you disable 3D acceleration support, for the guest?

Re: Oracle crashes after switching to fullscreen
I was having a similar problem, where VirtualBox would crash on suspending my Ubuntu guest machine (Windows 7 host). Turning off 3D acceleration fixed the problem for me. I am also running 4.3.26 build 98988.
