I cannot get the right (native) screen resolution option on Macbook Pro. Tried with guest additions but nothing. Anyone knows how to fix this?
thanks

Right click the VM in the VirtualBoxGUI. Select "Show Log". Save "VBox.log" to a file. Compress that file and attach it to a message here. Make sure the VM is fully shut down beforehand.

Thanks, at the moment I don't have the MBP (Early 2015 model), had to return it. I would like to buy again but want to make sure I can run W10 properly before I do. So do you think this resolution thing is fixable? Have you had the same issue and Are you running W10 fine?
thanks

Apparently you had a Retina display. VirtualBox does not support Retina or HiDPI resolutions just yet so it has nothing to do with Windows 10. You would have to change the resolution of the MacBook which is doable. Windows 10 won't be released for months so it's not an issue right now. I run Windows 10 as a guest in VirtualBox on three different Macs, a Linux PC and a Windows PC. None have Retina/HiDPI screens however. I will be getting the new MacBook Air with Retina Display when it is released this month and I'm sure I'll be able to run Windows 10 in VB.

Thanks, you will be able to run it for sure, but at non-native resolution it is not really plesant

There are "tricks" and third party software to get it to look a little better. But running any non-Retina or non-HiDPI software on HiDPI screens will never look exactly the same. If they did, would be no point in having HiDPI screens.

edit: the two main commercial hypervisors support Retina screens btw.

I forgot something. My Asus Zenbook supports up to 3200x1800 DPI (HiDPI). I just never bothered to run it that way because I didn't want to deal with all the non-HiDPI software that is out there. Maybe I will switch resolutions sometime and see how it looks.

Paralles works very well. And my understanding was that there was a hi res fix for W10 also in Virtualbox.
