VirtualBox - Error in suplibOsInit

Every time I try to start one of my guest VMs from a Desktop shortcut, I get the following error:
The above is from Windows XP Pro X86 Shortcut.
I'm running the latest VB and Extension pack under Windows 8.1 Pro X64, 16GB ram.
VirtualBox-4.3.26-98988-Win.exe
Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.3.26-98988.vbox-extpack
If I start the VM from the Oracle VB window it starts fine. Only fails when I try to start it from a Desktop link.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Oracle VB several times but still get the same error.
How do I fix this problem?
