IprediaOS - Guest Additions Problem

Post by friedman »

Hi guys,

I'm having a problem installing guest additions on iprediaOS.

I have iprediaOS installed in the VM OK and when I try to install guest additions I get a message reading:

Building the main Guest Additions module - failed.

When I look at the log file I see:

tmp/vbox.0/Makefile.include.header:97: *** Error: unable to find the sources of your current Linux kernal. Specify KERN_DIR=<directory> and run Make again o$
Creating user for the Guest Additions.
Creating udev rule for the Guest Additions kernel module.

Any help how I can resolve this is appreciated.

All is here. Note that IprediaOS is not a supported guest OS, so guest additions will only work (if they ever do) if you do all the hard work yourself, including installing kernel source and pointing the installer to their location if not autodetected.

FWIW, iprediaOS is based on Fedora so you would need to install the same packages that you would need to install for the guest additions in Fedora, CentOS, RHEL etc.

edit: the last release of iprediaOS was two years ago btw.

Thanks for the replies guys. I didn't realise ipredia was so out of date.

I will take another look at it today and see if I can get it working but, if not, I won't worry too much.

Best wishes.
