Windows 7 VM changes to unuseable resolution

Post by jag880 »

Hi there,

I'm running RHEL 6.6 as my host OS on an HP z420 workstation. I have a Win7 64-bit guest OS installed through Virtualbox. The VM has worked flawlessly for about 6 months now. However, after booting up my PC and VM this morning something strange happened. The VM appeared to be booting up fine as it made it to the Windows splash screen. However, at this point it appears to crash by drastically dropping the resolution. Attached is a picture of what I see. I am unable to log in. All I can do is click the ease of Access button but this does nothing. If i do a control+alt+delete the shutdown icon does appear which allows me to either restart or shutdown the VM. I have figured out that if I boot up into safe mood everything appears to act normal. I'm able to log in with normal resolution.

The VM drops all the way down to 283x90x32. Attached is a screenshot of the VM after the resolution drops and log file. Please help.
