Problems installing KDE distro's on VirtualBox

Hello,

Since a few days I'm building my own virtual computerlab.
Installing different OS, without any problem.

Only problem I have is with installing KDE distro's

For instance Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon, Mate, XFCE, no problem, only KDE doesn't want to install.
I get the KDE desktop and the icon to install KDE and then after a few minutes I get the message: "installer crashed".
Because I thought maybe the ISO was corrupted, I downloaded from other mirrors and also torrents.
All the different ISO's I try, give me the same message.

The only working KDE distro I have for now is Kubuntu 14.04

Anyone knows what causes this problem...
I tried 5 or 6 DIFFERENT iso's all with the same result.

Kind regards
Stievie

No idea why you are having issues. I downloaded the LM 17.1 KDE (64bit) .iso and it runs and installed just fine. Make sure all the template settings are correct.

Something else is going on. Whether a distro is using the KDE DE should make no difference.

I see the desktop with the icon which tells me to install, because i'm using virual live cd, and then I get the message "Installer crashed"

I don't see the option in the beginning (on booting) to install this distro in stead of trying out

You don't see the option because Linux Mint uses a different installer than Ubuntu.
Can you still install non-KDE distros because there is zero difference to VirtualBox whether you are installing KDE or Gnome3, or XFCE.
You need to post some logs.
Minimum information needed for assistance.

I installed many other distro's without any problems, only problem I'm having is with Linux Mint 17.1 KDE and Kubuntu 14.04/14.10...

Let me see if I can get you some logs.

Logs would help. I am confused now. You said you had Kubuntu 14.04 working earlier. Now it's a problem?

Yes you're right I am sorry, Kubuntu 14.04 is working

But there was definately some KDE distro other than Linux Mint KDE that wouldn't install.
Maybe Kubuntu 14.10, I installed (or tried to install) so many distro's I forgot which one...

Let me go and test things out.

First I get this (which is normal):

Then when I click on the install button this happens:

Image

Installer crashed
Installer crashed<2>
Installer crashed<3>

I have Windows 7 as host.
I'm using the most recent VirtualBox.
Also have most recent guest additions.

This is the text written inside the box

I also tried the ubuntu-bug ubiquity command in terminal but no result.

try increasing the VRAM for the guest to 64MBs.

Will try that...
But I see all the other Linux distros work fine with only 12MB video memory.
Win 7 works good with 27MB

Open suse 13.2 KDE and Kubuntu 14.04 both work with only 12MB.

Even the 32 bit version of LM 17.1 KDE not working...

Still the same:

Installer keeps crashing.

Tried different ISO's, tried 32 and 64 bit version, torrent, none of them seem to work.

What is drive "S"?
also have you verified the md5sum matches the original source?

video memory 64bit: installer crashes from beginning
video memory 128bit: installer crashes from beginning
video memory 32 bit: installer crashes from beginning
video memory 12 bit: installer crashes from beginning

video memory 16 bit: installer crashes after a few steps on "disk setup"

Drive "S" is my drive... I have 6 different drives in computer.

How do I check the md5sum?
Like I said, I already tried many different ISO, and I would be surprised if they all are faulty.
