I'm running Virtualbox 4.3.10, on an Ubuntu Server 14.04 host. The correct Extension Pack, 93012, is installed, and I've ensured that I've selected the VRDE pack rather than VNC.
I've imported an image from a retired physical Windows XP SP3 machine.
The XP guest is running well in most regards, using a bridged interface for networking. Guest additions have been successfully installed.

I always start the guest in headless mode, and connect from my Windows 7 machine, using Windows Remote Desktop Connection, Host IP and custom VRDE port.
I'm not able to access the DVD drive on the Windows 7 machine, from the XP guest. I'm not sure if I've missed something whilst setting up the VM, or there's another issue.
How can I troubleshoot to get this working?

I am connecting from a different subnet, though on other XP vms, created on VBox 4.1.22, don't have any problems with this. I didn't create the older VMs, though I can't see any differences in the output of the showvminfo command.

Next, I see no evidence that the host DVD drive is mounted in the VM. For that matter I see no evidence that the VM has a virtual hdd either.

Finally, please note that we do not support the Ubuntu fork of VirtualBox here. If you want to use a fork then that's fine, but you need to go to the (er) forkers for support.

Is the line in the showvminfo file starting 'XPVM_IDE' not showing the .vdi file attached as the virtual hdd?
Also do I have to attach the DVD drive using the storageattach command (I'm only using command line)?

I'm not entirely sure that I'll be able to get any useful support for the Ubuntu fork. Would you suggest uninstalling, and installing the unforked version, then if it doesn't work seek help here again?
Funnily enough, our VMs that don't have this issue were created on an unforked version on VBox.

The noted line shows a snapshot VDI being attached. That maybe indeed be all you see in the VMinfo when snapshots are involved - I don't know because I don't use snapshots.

And yes, if you want to continue this discussion then I'll need you to uninstall the fork version and install the official version.
