Guest additions only installing basic 3D

Hello, I'm running Mac OSX Snow Leopard as a host and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit as a guest. I also have the Virtual Box extension installed. I've gone through many guides and sites attempting to install experimental 3D support from the guest additions. When checking the 3D support, I am only told to boot into safe mode to install, while others on different sites are given a question asking if they want to install basic support, to which you should say "no". I'm never given this prompt so I thought installing in safe mode would let me. Instead it seems to have only installed basic 3D, still with no question. I then uninstalled the guest additions in safe mode and tried again in a normal boot and was still only told to boot in safe mode to install 3D support. How can I get this prompt to show up so I can get the experimental version of the 3D support? I know Virtual Box is not the best for gaming but I am trying to run games while my Windows pc is dead.

By the way this is on a Mac Book Pro.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You don't install the guest additions in safe mode for Windows 7. So if they are still installed that way, remove them in safe mode, restart your Windows guest and just install them while in the normal Windows desktop. When the Choose Components dialog window opens, click Direct3D Support, it will ask if you want to install DirectX instead, that's when you click no.
