Guest lauches App in Host

Post by Anunes »

Hi,

Host OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit
Guest : Mint 17.1
GPU's : Intel 4600 and Geforce 740M
VB Version tested: 4.3.12 , 4.3.24, 4.3.26

From inside the Guest , pressing the keys quickly "IOL" on the Keyboard it launches a TV Tuner App installed in the Host, if it is not running, and if it is already running it Chrashes.
TV Tuner is a USB Stick and it has a IR remote Controller.
Since more than a week I am trying to figure out this behavior, tried everything I could and the only thing that Helps is to run VB with the Geforce GPU and let TV Tuner with the Intel 4600 GPU.

Any other suggestion?

I'd suspect that there's a keyboard shortcut in the TV tuner's host program's settings that triggers on "IOL", and that in some way the TV tuner's keyboard monitor system is ahead of Virtualbox's keyboard redirector in the "keyboard stack" (if there is such a thing).

Further testing to find out the source of the problem I found that running VB on 1 GPU and TV app on the other GPU is not helping.
Scottgus1, yes there is a keyboard shortcut on the TV Tuner but disabling it does not help.

Now, I went to Windows Firewall in the Host a RESET it to the Default settings and seems the problem is solved.
The problem is very difficult to narrow down because it is intermittent, but I think it is related to visiting a certain WEB page on the Guest, that is executing some code , that stays in Cache also int Host.
Seems there is some kind of "Cross-Talking" between Guest and Host envolving the Windows Firewall.
When the problem once arrises, it persists until I delete Keyboard driver on the Host and / or delete all the "Internet Options" caches on the Host.
Well, for now the problem is gone.
