I have a Windows 7 host with windows server 2008 r2 guest. I've successfully mapped a drive from the host to the guest with full access and can add/modify/delete files as a regular user. Problem is when I try to render a page within the guest I get a 500.19 error when it tries to read the web.config. I have no 'security' tab available on the property of the shared folder (from guest). How do I grant the permission necessary so that IIS can render the page correctly? If I move the site to a local drive on the guest the site works fine.

Try using network sharing instead of shared folders.

I'm forced to use an internal network on my guest. I don't believe network sharing to the host is an option with this setting. Shared folders does appear to work with this setting except for the permission issue. Any other options?

Not without knowing a lot more. You say you are forced to use Internal but there is always the host-only. Maybe if you could explain more about your reasoning someone could advise you a bit more.

This is a long-winded topic. I can only advise you to look at the previous posts and the ticket with the most activity so far which, while it doesn't directly answer your question, has potential info that could help you.

My personal advise is to not rely on shared folders and instead make a script to keep a copy inside the guest up-to-date with the shared folder.
