Windows 7 Guest - audio/Video Slow

I am running Linux Mint 17.1 host, VirtualBox 4.3.26, Windows 7 guest - all 64-bit.
Problem is that both audio and video run very slow on the guest (the host is just fine) - the video seems to run at half speed (slow motion) and the audio sounds like you have slowed it down to an almost undecipherable level. All audio and all video is like this - no matter the source application used to deliver the content. Someone has suggested that perhaps the clock speed of the guest has been set too low and that it should be increased to 48K. I don't know if that is true, and even so I don't know how to reset the clock speed.
Any suggestions?

The 48k number sounds like the audio sampling rate which is different than clock speed and wouldn't affect video anyway. Attach the vbox.log (compressed) for the W7 guest. Also make sure you install the guest additions although that doesn't sound like your problem.

Not sure if this will help but, you have 2 CPUs assigned to Windows but you only have 2 physical cores. You should change it to 1.
You have 4GBs RAM assigned to the guest. That's pushing it. Try 2GB.
You only have 32MB assigned to VRAM. I would try 128MB.
If nothing else your guest should run better.

Not really no. In the years I've been using VirtualBox I've only had a couple Linux guests where the audio was off but it wasn't remotely half-speed, more like a half-step in pitch flat. I've never had videos run slowly. Perhaps someone else will have an idea.

Did this ever get resolved? I see this on my Windows 10 guest and Ubuntu host.

I removed and reinstalled the audio device in the device manager on the Windows guest and that fixed it.
