Hi all!!,

Has anyone else had an issue installing latest version of VBOX on a Win10 rig?
brand new clean install of Win10. failed to install correctly then restarted to KSOD though sys restore fixed that for me, then tried installing in Compatibilty mode as Win8.1 application and it installed ok but upon restart back to KSOD, again repaired fine in sys restore

update tried installing it win 7 compatibility mode. seems to work ok ish but it wrecked my network connection
Sys restore has saved the day again.
tempted at this point to go back to Win7 though I must say Im loving the new Win10 build
its quick sleek and OMG Internet Explorer actually works.....

Just my opinion but I think you would be better off running Windows 7 and installing Windows 10 as a guest in VirtualBox. It's never a good idea to run pre-release OSes as your main OS. It's one of the reasons people use products like VirtualBox. So they can test without screwing up their main computer.

Internet Explorer is going to be killed in Windows 10 btw.

Hi thanks for the reply. But everything you said I know already, except the IE. shame its getting dumped now it finally works
My question was has anyone else been having the same or similar issues after attempting the same thing

VM Workstation installs fine and works really well

I did find a Windowspowershell fix as a workaround which seems to fix most of the problems on the WIN10 support forum

There are multiple posts about running VirtualBox on Windows 10 here. I take it you didn't look.

Hi There you seem to know a lot about Win 10 so I thought that maybe you can help me.
I'm new to Vbox and have just downloaded Win 10 Preview. My OS is Vista.
The problem that I have is Win 10 Won't work in Vbox. Can you offer any advice?

If you mean me, I know very little about Win 10 but I do know it works in VirtualBox.
Minimum information needed for assistance.

I see your using Imac. Perhaps it doesn't work in Vista?

If your hardware supports running Windows 10 as a guest, enough RAM, VT-x support etc, it will run in VirtualBox in Vista.
