Hello All,

I have a very strange issue.
I have a Windows System where I have installed VirtualBox and running Ubuntu on it. I used it download Kernel to my Beaglebone black using TFTP.
I created a new guest operating system as there was not much memory left on my previous guest.

but with the new guest my Beaglebone black cannot download anything from it.

I get below error:

Code: Select all

U-Boot# tftp hemant.txt
link up on port 0, speed 10, half duplex
Using cpsw device
TFTP from server 192.168.0.1; our IP address is 192.168.0.100
Filename 'hemant.txt'.
Load address: 0x82000000
Loading: T T T T T T T T T T T T T T T T T T T T
But if I use my old guest edition it all works.

Is it possible to see difference between these two guest to see what I am missing,

Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated as I am stuck with this issue for a month now.

Regards,
Hemant Kapoor

Hello, Hemant!
Is the new guest OS (Ubuntu?) exactly the same version as the old guest, and with exactly the same updates? And is the new guest settings in Virtualbox exactly the same as the old guest's settings? Any difference between the two may be the cause of the failure, only way to know is go through them point by point and compare.

On the other hand, if your "memory" that's low in the old working guest is actually guest disk space you can increase that. Mpack's CloneVDI tool (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=22422) can expand guest hard drives, giving you more "memory" in the working guest. (There's a built-in Virtualbox command to do such a thing, too, but Mpack's tool is easier to use - no buttering-up intended :) )

Hello,

Thanks for the response.
I will use the tool that you mention to clone my system with larger memory and hope it works.

I have painfully gone to see what all is installed in both my systems (dpkg --get-selections) and compared it, see attachment.
If you spot anything obvious that I am missing in my new guest then please let me know.
Both the Ubuntu versions are same.

Virtualbox settings are same, I have gone through it several times now...

Finally....

After a month it worked :)

I was using USB network card for communication, so when I saw network setting, I found two network card seen by the system.

Since I didn't find any place in tftp-hpa where I can say that use this ip address for tftp server so I simply disabled the one network card I was not using...

This work like a charm, not sure how it works... :)

If someone has a clue then do let me know....

Thanks for all the help.....
