Does Linux 64bit mean Windows 64bit is allowed?

Post by virtual-reality »

If I can install Linux 64bit, does that automatically mean I can install Windows 64bit?

I am trying to install Windows 8.1 Pro, 64bit. It tries to load but then dies with errors, as in it can't even get to the setup. I have Oracle Linux installed from a template working well, and uname -a indicates it is 64bit.

My host machine that runs VB is Windows 7 64bit.

edit: VB is set for Windows 8 64bit. Is it because I am trying to install 8.1? Virtualbox 3.4.

Thanks for help.

You may need a newer version of VirtualBox as the one you have is really old.

I apologize. I had it set to 8 instead of 8.1.
