Hi!
I have Windows7 within that I installed VisualBox. Her I installed Windows Server 2008 R2 and within that I installed SQL-Server Express 2014.
Now I want to work with the SQL-Server from my Visual Studio but I cannot connet the Server neither can I ping the SQL-Server from the Host.
My Windows Server 2008 R2 Networkssettings in the VB are:
Networkbridge
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop
Promiscuous-Mode: deny
Firewall on the Host and Guest if off.
My Laptop is used within a active directory at work and within a 'normal' enviroment at home.
Could anyone tell me what to do? Sorry, I have no expertise concerning Server and Network so I hope I provided the right information.
Thanks!

Re: Communicate with SQLServer in VisualBox
Windows versions since Win7 don't always respond to a ping - you need to check whether it is configured to do so (use Google to find out how).
Otherwise, it's important to know what VirtualBox networking mode you use - you don't seem to have mentioned it. Basically you must not use NAT if the guest is running a server application (NAT guests do not receive unsolicited messages).
Your main choices are bridged (if internet access is required, and you have a router with DHCP), or host-only (if internet access is NOT required).
