Problems installing Ubuntu 14.04 on Windows 7

Post by boewig »

Hi

I'm tying to install Ubuntu 14.04 on VirtualBox under windows 7. But it crashes with the erro-message:

"The instruction at 0x02f512a0 referenced memory at 0x02f512a0. The memory could not be written"

I have attched the log-file.

I have played around with changing both the Base Memory and Video Memory up and down, but it doesn't help.

Does any of you have a good suggestion to the problem?

Best,
Kasper

Your host only has 4.3GB free, so it certainly can't afford to assign 4GB to guest. Try reducing that to 2GB.

Also there's this :-
VBox.log wrote: 00:00:01.742008 supR3HardenedErrorV: supR3HardenedScreenImage/NtCreateSection: cached rc=VERR_LDRVI_NOT_SIGNED fImage=1 fProtect=0x10 fAccess=0xf cHits=32 \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Windows\System32\tprb\5154\ImHttpComm.dll
An unsigned DLL (from something called IncrediMail?) is injecting itself into the VirtualBox host process. Recent VirtualBox version don't like that. IncrediMail (now called Perion) sound like a shifty bunch to me. You perhaps installed a toolbar from them?

Thanks for the coment.

I don't know anything about IncrediMail / Perion. I however tried to remove it from the computer.

Trying again to install Ubuntu allocating 2 GB to VM it still crashes before the installation begins.

The log file is attached.

Best,
Kasper

Well, you seem to have gotten rid of the IncrediMail problem, however there is nothing the log about a crash.

I see that the log ends right after you begin to boot from the ISO. Have you done an MD5 checksum test of the ISO file?
