Using Win 8.1 Virtual Com6 Port in Oracle Box

Hi,

My USB to Can Bus -USB adapter opens a virtual COM6 port in Win 8.1 which I wish to access from Delphi 7 in WinXP. Win 8.1 automatically assigns COM6 to the virtual port. I would be grateful for any advice as to how Oracle Box can be set up to make this
accessible to the virtual XP and then to the Delphi 7 nrComm component.

Very many thanks,

Amfortas.

Just configure the "Serial Port" settings appropriately. See user manual for details.

And p.s. Just because the host OS has a physical port called "COM6:" that you want to map to the VM, don'tt expect the guest OS to give the virtual port the same name. E.g. Linux VMs don't use that nomenclature for port devices at all. The VM will give the port whatever name most appeals to it. Most likely COM1.

Very many thanks mpack,

I will look for the virtual port as you suggest- I assumed since it appeared in WIN8.1 as COM8, that would be where it would appeat in Oracle Box.

I appreciate your assistance !
