Is there known issue with latest VBox v.4.3.24 guest audio on Win7x64?
Am running Win7ProSP1 on both host and guest upgraded from v.4.3.20 to resolve issue with NAT network. Guest audio had worked no problem on v.4.3.20 but after upgrading to v.4.3.24 now have no sound.
Search on forum pulls up numerous references to audio issues with v.4.3.22 and v.4.3.24 changelog references improvement to directsound audio backend, but could not find any specific problem issue with v.4.3.24.
Is there some configuration change with v.4.3.24 needed to restore guest audio?
Not sure what info may be needed for troubleshooting...
Attached are .zip files of VBox logs ..\Users\{Win user}\.VirtualBox\VBoxSVC.log.x and ..\Users\{Win user}\{VBox guest}\Logs\VBox.log.x
Note, for VBoxSVC.log.x files, 3 oldest versions (files x.8, x.9, x.10) dated June-2014 were from last Acronis image backup with stable VBox v.4.3.6
VBox had been upgraded as suggested thru several subsequent releases in unresolved attempts to fix unknown problem with deleting snapshots hanging: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=62491
With VBox v.4.3.20 (which did not exhibit any guest audio issue) had become aware that version had new network issue with NAT adapter: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=66170
Restored Acronis image back to stable VBox v.4.3.6 dating back to June-2014, then upgraded VBox directly to latest v.4.3.24 (which is supposed to resolve NAT adapter issue) captured by subsequent VBoxSVC.log files starting from version x.7
Please let me know what if any additional troubleshooting info may be helpful

Re: lost Win7x64 guest audio after v.4.3.24 upgrade
Is anyone running latest VBox v.4.3.24 on Win7ProSP1x64 on both host and guest with no issues with guest audio? -- host driver: Windows DirectSound, controller: Intel HD Audio
Am running up against having to make hard choice whether problem is likely config issue or new bug, and deciding whether to re-repeat re-installing upgrade or rolling back to old enough version that does not contain NAT network issue: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=66086#p313517
Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you try changing the audio volume in the guest?koshimagap wrote:Is there some configuration change with v.4.3.24 needed to restore guest audio?

[RESOLVED]: lost Win7x64 guest audio after v.4.3.24 upgrade
michaln audio volume was among basic things had checked, and all appeared fine and guest OS did not report any problems with audio device.
As last-case try before resorting to re-imaging, re-tried again selecting every host audio driver and audio controller option combination available in VBoxMgr (but this time hard-booting host between each config change)
No idea if simply coincidence, but when re-restored back to default host driver: Windows DirectSound, controller: Intel HD Audio (and then hard-booting host) guest audio now works as expected, so guess problem is non-issue. Thanks.

Re: [RESOLVED]: lost Win7x64 guest audio after v.4.3.24 upgr
Sorry, I probably wasn't clear. What I meant was not to see if the volume level in the guest is reasonable but actually change it. At least that worked for others.koshimagap wrote:michaln audio volume was among basic things had checked, and all appeared fine and guest OS did not report any problems with audio device.

Re: [RESOLVED] lost Win7x64 guest audio after v.4.3.24 upgra
michaln thanks for clarification.
No idea if my troubleshooting just happened to trigger same thing that actually changing the audio volume worked for others -- if I recall correctly, do not think I actually changed audio volume as it was already not muted at 100%
No matter as VBox v.4.3.24 guest audio now appears to be working as expected, thankfully before wasting boatloads of time re-imaging my system.
