hello, I'm trying to open up the Command Prompt within the VM (during a set up) in order to use diskpart. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Start, Run..., "Cmd". It's also no doubt on the Programs menu.
I'm not sure what you mean by "during a setup". You don't need to run DiskPart during setup of any modern Windows OS. A separate disk preparation phase has not been required since Win98SE.
While I'm willing to point you in a direction, please be aware that this is a VirtualBox user support site, not a Windows tutorial site.

thanks! "during set up" meaning when I'm starting the initial set up of windows within a VM. My professor is asking us to use "Shift + F10" in order to open up the command prompt. However since I am using a MAC, the "Shift +F10" doesn't work or pull up the command prompt in the VM

On your Mac in System Preferences>Keyboard enable "Use all F1, F2, keys as standard function keys".
