i'm attempting to install windows xp on virtualbox, and i'm getting the following error message:
Installation Failed D:\i386\asms. The parameter is incorrect.
I am new to VirtualBox, and i'm following a how-to article in the Ubuntu User. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you

Usual problem is a bad burn to CD, or a slipstream CD. Use a retail CD and it will probably work.

Moved to Windows Guests.
Provide a link to the how-to article?
I assume you are installing XP from a setup CD. Where did you get the CD? If it's an ISO image then check the MD5 sum: and be aware that if it becomes clear that this setup CD is not genuine then we will not be able to help.

This is a genuine Windows XP Pro w/SP2 CD, with product key. The how-to article is in the Winter 2014 issue of Ubuntu user.
