I have been trying for hours and hours to get the Windows 10 Technical Preview working on VB 4.3.22.

The OS itself works, but the screen resolution does not contain all of the settings for my system, and using vboxmanage.exe to add the resolution I want does not work.

I have opened the Device Manager on the Windows 10 VM and under Display Adapters I have one driver: VirtualBox Graphics Adapter for Windows 8. BUT it has a yellow triangle exclamation mark by it and when I double click on it I see the message: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

I saw another thread on this forum saying try the new version of Guest Additions from the test area, so I downloaded that (VBoxGuestAdditions_4.3.23-98282.iso) but it's still the same issue after installing that on the guest OS and restarting the VM.

Can anyone help me?

Hi. I had the same issue. Hopefully you already solved your issue since it has been a month since your post. I found a solution for me that I wanted to post in case someone else was having the same issue. However, it may be solved with the next version according to a recent post titled "Windows 10 Preview with 3D disabled" (sorry, I can't post a link since I am a new forum member).

I was trying to get dual/multiple monitors configured on Windows 10 so I could see if presentation mode would work in power point running in VB. I am running VB 4.3.26 r98988 on a Macbook pro (OSX 10.10.2) as host. I am running Windows 10 pro technical preview 10041 as a guest.

I finally narrowed my problem to the same display driver issue you described. The problem as far as I can tell is that guest additions are installed with 3D support enabled. However, 3D acceleration mode on the guest settings from within the virtualbox manager was not set. Once I enabled 3D acceleration (and 2D acceleration just to make sure) the display driver in the guest started working just fine and 2 monitors were recognized in my Windows 10 guest.

Thanks buddy! I did try various settings with 2D/3D acceleration, and had no joy. In the end I went to VMWare and it works seamlessly.
