increase resolution of guest

Post by kerta »

Hi,

I got problems with the resolution of the guest
Host: Win8.1 64Bit 1920x1080 virtualbox 4.3.22 r98236
Guest: Win7 Pro 64Bit with extenxions is installed and working

The maximum resolution I can get with the guest is 1024 x 768.
It should be possible to increase that to 1920x1080 like the host

Any thoughts or hints were my error might be.

Thank you for any idea

Moved to "Windows Guests".

The extension pack is not relevant to guest display size. For that you need to install the Guest Additions. That will allow you to select full screen mode, which in practice is the only way to get a guest display size equal to the hosts.

The user manual has the details of how to install the GAs.

Thank you. But I allready got the Guest Additions installed.
By the way, during the installation Direct 3d Support can not be marked.
I installed the Guest Addition again still the same problem.

Any other suggestion

Thanks for your effort

A partial solution.

In the global setting increase the resolution far more what your host have. By selecting the drop down menu
Example if the host got 1920 x 1080 then put in the GLOBAL SETTINGS / DISPLAY 2560x2048 or higher
At least now you get more display resolution to select from

Thanks
