printer driver error

Definitely not a programmer, muddling through set up. Only running the virtual machine to use windows for software that is not available on Mac. So far so good, managed to install Windows Enterprise and get the network working in the guest.
Macbook Pro Yosemite, running a virtual box Windows 8.1 64 bit.
My problem is I can't seem to get my printer into the windows program. I have run the hp utility to install the hp printer software, but when I go to add new devices, I still get a driver error. the printer is an hp envy 100 410b. I don't understand why windows is giving me a driver error when I have used hp utility to install it.
I am connecting the printer through USB, as when I tried to connect wirelessly in the guest(as is my host Mac), it says that the printer and computer are using two different routers.
Any help would be appreciated.
