Hi New to this forum and need some help please. Just upgraded to a new computer with Windows 8.1 having used XP for as long as I can remember. I have a small internet business selling tools and my accounting system will not run further than XP. It's MYOB an old version but works very well for me and would like to keep it. I found out about Virtual XP and down loaded windowsXPmode_en-us. I then used winimage to convert file to virtualxp.vmdk (normal 127gb). I then used Virtualbox to load it on to my computer. It seemed to go ok and finished with an icon on my desktop. When I click on it it comes up but has a black screen and I don't know what to do next to get going or if there is something not right. I only need to use it for my accounts. I have just become an OAP which is not a negative but shows I only know about computers what I have learnt myself, generally through trial and error. Any ideas please or is there an easier way to get my accounts onto win 8.1.

Thanking in anticipation.

The XP Mode version of XP only works when run natively in Window 7 (I think) and is not listed as compatible with Windows 8.1 in a web search. So you'll need a regular XP install disc to run XP in Virtualbox on Windows 8.1. You probably have one lying around from an older PC that you could use, and hopefully it will activate.
