Is there an older version of VirtualBox that would work on a OS X 10.4.11 host?

Thanks.

From the manual: "Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) support was removed with VirtualBox 3.1."

Okay, thank-you.

I have downloaded and tried to install all sub-versions of 3.0, and also tried 2.0, and also tried 1.6. When installing, they all say, "There were problems installing the software" and to try again. Trying again makes no difference. It does not say any other error or code.

ray, if you are trying to install VirtualBox on a PowerPC Mac, no version will install. VirtualBox requires an Intel-based CPU.

I didn't know that.

Do you know of any other virtual machine that I could use?

Thanks.

There were two in the past. Virtual PC which was created by Connectix and purchased by Microsoft in 2003. It was designed to run Windows only. Most likely only up to XP.
You can still download it from MacUodate but I have no idea how well it works. http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/6078/virtual-pc
There was also Q emulator which could also run Linux at the time. It was a port of QUEM. No idea how well it works either. http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/20830/q-emulator.

I doubt either will run a modern OS or games.

Virtual PC was a general PC emulator and could run DOS, Linux, etc... but yes, it's very outdated by now and can't be expected to perform adequately (in 2015) on hardware which is itself outdated. See also here: http://apple.stackexchange.com/question ... nning-10-4

The bottom line is that trying to run x86 stuff on a seriously outdated (there are no others) Power Mac is a waste of time unless it's purely for fun and to see how bad it was. Any old PC will do a much better job.

Virtual PC for Power Macs was actually quite good at the time, with accurate emulation of a PC system, but that was 10-15 years ago.

Innotek worked with Connectix to "expand" Virtual PC to also run OS/2
(and to build a version of Virtual PC running on OS/2)

Thanks. I will try the VirtualPC. It appears that this old Mac was made around the same time as that old VirtualPC. Maybe they will work okay.

Welcome. I wouldn't count on running any OS beyond XP even if it does.

The download for the link given would not work, but I found it here:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... lPC703.dmg

However, this file is only an update for if you already have Virtual PC. After many search pages, I cannot find anywhere to download it.
