[only certain for those folks -like me-, working with SLES 10, and wants to have a good virtualbox v1.6 running .....]

hi
today they released this:
http://www.novell.com/news/press/novell ... ice-pack-2

I've downloaded it (4x iso for cdrom and 2x iso for dvd). It's a big bunch of stuff.

It contents:
[and this would be very certain!]

1. yast is supporting with SP2 bridge device (this is very new) ;-)
* Support for bridge devices, ficon devices and VLANs was added to the YaST2
network module

2. kernel-vmi
* Add a new kernel which is designed to run on top of a virtual machine
interface layer (VMI). The VMI interface layer is part of the package
kernel-vmi which is available as x86 package only (not for x86_64). This
package can be installed via your favorite update tool once the system has
a registered update channel.

3. virt-manager {=virtual machine manager]
virt-manager is a desktop tool for managing virtual machines. It provides the ability to control the lifecycle of existing machines bootup/shutdown,pause/
resume,suspend/restore), provision new virtual machines, manage virtual networks, access the graphical console of virtual machines, and view performance statistics.

4. [off topic: official support for xen 3.2. AND kernel -pae....]

5. SuSEfirewall2 now autodetect bridge interfaces and permit traffic.
[some of above info is from official readme]

I'm writing this, because since two week I will get no effort in installing Vbox on my sles10-sp1. there are no communication between etc' and bridges. Hope, new sp2 will fix it. we'll see.

Actually those technologies are also included into openSUSE 11.0 (BETA).

[short answer]

please, we are talking about:
Suse Linux Enterprise Server aka SLES
it's a professional server edition from SuSE. prices are beginning at 300€ per year. it's similar to Red Hat Server.
it's not ordinary/normally OpenSuse 10/11/12

NB: there was an error in my last posting:
virt-manager is not supporting Vbox. just now only xen (definitely) and VMware (I think so). who' s interesting in it; please have a closer on their website http://virt-manager.org/ ; it's interesting...

NB2: today I will give a last try for coexisting vbox on SLES ;-)

If you are new to Xen or virutalization product I don't recommend it for production use.

If you use Windows guest only it is good, but if you have linux guest then good luck, the virt-manager is so buggy when manage disk or network device for linux guest.
