Hi,
I am considering using Virtualbox (host windows7 Enterprise 64 bit, guest Ubuntu any addition between 12-14 is good)
I have seen some posts in the pasts mentioning problems for this host (windows 7 enterprise 64bit ).
1. Is it working now?
2. Will it be able to utilize: 32GB RAM, SSD 320GB drive, i7 cores?
3. Can u install ubuntu (12 or 13 or 14 on it) on it?
Will the ubuntu be able to use all processors, RAM, SSD drive?
Thanks

There is a security problem on Windows hosts, where malware can use Virtualbox's processes to get elevated privileges & do more harm than they could have otherwise done. The first version to attempt to plug this security hole was 4.3.14, and work is continuing on the problem. Most of the issues seem to be that the malware uses the same functions to inject themselves into Virtualbox that legitimate programs like antivirus, video drivers, and custom-theme programs are allowed to use, so these legitimate programs can stop Virtualbox from running.
Essentially, use the most recent version (as of now, 4.3.22) if you want to try it, or if you want to help trouble-shoot. Or use 4.3.12, which will allow running all but the absolute most recent OS's (Windows 10, I think, is OK, using the Windows 8.1 guest template. There's been some talk of a recent Ubuntu version needing 4.3.22, I think) If you decide to run 4.3.12, keep malware off your host and you should be OK.

Thank you!
Do you think the guest will be able to use all of the resources (32GB RAM, i7 cores, SSD drive)?

No guests can use 100% of a host's resources. What would the host use to run it's own OS and VirtualBox?

I see.
Will the guest have access for all of those resources?
Clearly, the host use using some, including the virtualbox itself, but lets assume the host is using 2GB RAM alltogether, will the guest be able to us ethe rest 30 GB ?
Same goes for CPUs.
Thanks.

Generally it is recommended to assign 50% of a host's available RAM. VirtualBox likes contiguous RAM. Also, it's recommended to assign no more than half the physical cores to a guest.
