Host: Win 7
Guest: VBox v 4.3.20 w/ Additions - Win 7
I'm experiencing some issues with accessing files on USB and my CD/DVD drive.
USB background:
A Filter for my device was added under USB Settings though I see that USB 2.0 (EHCI) feature is not selectable. Additionally, when the Menu Bar is explored in the Guest's Window's OS environment under the Devices pull-down option (utilizing the ALT key) , a check mark is associated with the name of my USB Device. In the case of the USB device, it seems to be powered since it's indicator light is on. However when I look for the USB in the list of drives through Windows files system, it is not present.
CD/DVD background:
When the Menu Bar is explored in the Guest's Window's OS environment under the Devices pull-down option (utilizing the ALT key) , a check mark is associated with CD/DVD Devices/Host Drive'D:' . Then when I look for an inserted CD in the list of drives through Windows files system, it appears that the CD is recognized. However, when the CD's content is explored, only one file on the CD appears even though other similar files were burned onto the CD at the same time.
Any ideas?

Re: Difficulty accessing USB and CD drives
You need to install the Extension pack that matches your VirtualBox version. https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloadsjnl2 wrote:I see that USB 2.0 (EHCI) feature is not selectable.
See if enabling Passthrough mode in your CD settings makes a difference.jnl2 wrote:only one file on the CD appears even though other similar files were burned onto the CD at the same time.
BTW, those are two completely different issues. You should have opened a discussion for each one.

Re: Difficulty accessing USB and CD drives
See: Minimum information needed for assistance. Particularly interested in the zipped VBox.log.
BTW, you're saying that "USB 2.0 (EHCI) feature is not selectable". You're not trying to change the settings while the VM is running, are you?

Re: Difficulty accessing USB and CD drives
Socratis, your hint seems to have made the difference. I was trying to make changes to the VM while the Guest OS was running. Once the Guest OS was shutdown the option to allow the Passthrough feature for the CD/DVD to be selected as well as the option to allow for the USB 2.0 (EHCI) to be selected were available through the VM VBox Manager window.socratis wrote:BTW, you're saying that "USB 2.0 (EHCI) feature is not selectable". Now I have full access to my CD/DVD and USB drives.
THANK YOU!!
