Installtion failed 4.3.22

Hi,

I am trying to update to 4.3.22 on yosemite and its running the installation and failing right at the end telling me to contact manufacturer lol .. It removed old files also so I hope I didn't lose my Machines. Whats going on? Any ideas how to fix? Tried a few times now, fails every time.

Once you start the installer package, press Cmd-L to show the installer log. Choose to "Show All Logs" from the detail level drop-down list. If you miss it, open the Console.app and take a look at the installer log there. If you don't see the log list, choose to show it. On the left hand side choose the "/var/log/install.log".

If you don't figure out yourself what's the problem, post the log as a zipped attachment. Please do not post all of your install.log. Just the relevant pieces. Watch the time that you start the installation and the time you end it. Copy-Paste this part into a new document, zip it and attach that. It should start with something like:

Just so you know, installing or uninstalling VirtualBox does not touch any VMs.

No.
v4.3.22 is now installed on two systems, Laptop and iMac.
Note that I always use the UnInstall process before installing new release. My preference.

It seems to me that VirtualBox installation errors on Mac hosts are either a permissions problem or a corrupt OSX installation. You can try repair disk permissions, reboot your Mac then reinstall VirtualBox.

Edit: Or user error.

I have the same problem on Mavericks (Italian). The installer checks the system, and then says that it cannot install on my system. Please find attached my install.log.

EDIT: I restarted my Mac, and the installer worked fine. Probably, I was having issues with the Creative Suite at the same time. Sorry for not having tried before.

You didn't uninstall your previous version, and not only that, but the installer fails to unload org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxUSB and org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxDrv, which means that VirtualBox was running at the time you were trying to upgrade it.

Well funny you should say that because prior to uograding to Yosmite yesterday, when quitting VB the main would always quit but there was 2 more always showing up as running in the dock.. No force quit nothing would close them. But after installing yosemite this problem did not appear. So it must of still been happening in the backround..

What is my options now? I tried running the uninstaller then re-installing and same issue.

On a more serious note is there any suggestions on fixing this I really need access to VB. I done a complete removal of VB files using Cleanmymac2. Still failing to install.

speaking of, the VirtualBox_Uninstall.tool does a perfectly good job of uninstalling VirtualBox without touching any existing VM's. I have no idea what Cleanmymac2 does.

After you've exited VirtualBox, open activity monitor and kill all VBox* processes. See if that fixes it.
