Installing Ubuntu 14.04.1 - Cryptic error message

I'm using Virtual Box 4.3.20 and I'm trying to install Ubuntu 14.04.1 x86, using the image from the official website: ubuntu.c om/download/desktop.
I've allocated 16GB disk space (I've tried both static and dynamic allocation), and set the usable amount of RAM to 2GB.
However, right after starting the virtual machine with the image for the first time, I am greeted with this error(?) message:
puu.sh/fPmPZ/42236f3dc4.png
It doesn't continue and doesn't allow any keyboard input, so I'm assuming this isn't normal. I've tried reinstalling the machine multiple times - to no avail.
What could be causing this issue?
My actual OS is Windows 8.1 Pro x64, in case that makes any difference.

I would start over. Delete the original guest and only use the default settings. With one exception and that is Ubuntu needs PAE enabled for 32 bit guests.

Tried that, no success:
youtu.be/LfzLvUvNUS8
PAE/NX was already enabled by default in the settings.
However, I noticed that if I remove the floppy and CD/DVD drives (Both of which I don't even have), I'm getting a "No bootable medium found!" error (See video). Shouldn't this force it to load the image?
I've also tried re-downloading the ubuntu image and restarting my OS, but no change.

I don't do external images so if you want them to be seen post here by using the upload attachment at the bottom of the reply window.
But the most important thing you could post is the guests log file ( as an attachment )

I've attached the image from my first post.
The other link is a youtube video showing how I'm creating the vm. Can't attach that.
The only log I could find is the 'VBoxSVC.log' in 'C:/users/*****/.VirtualBox', I've attached that as well.

Right click on the guest in the main manager and then click show log. Save and post as an attachment.

Code: Select all
00:00:05.387385 HMR3Init: Falling back to raw-mode: VT-x is disabled in the BIOS.
First thing to do is enable hardware virtualization in your hosts bios.
Then if this does not help you need to verify the md5 sum of your download.

A VM uses simulated hardware. The range of possible simulations is not constrained by what hardware your host actually has. In fact that is almost entirely irrelevant. The VM needs a virtual CD if you want to install Ubuntu. Naturally if you remove all of the bootable disks from a VM you'll get that error.
