Install anti virus program on Guest too ??

Host: Win 7 w/ Norton Anti Virus
Guest: Win 7

I'm considering exposing a newly installed VBox (my first time utilizing a VM  ) to the internet. Should I also install some anti virus software (Norton) to the Guest in addition to already having it running on the Host.

Thank you as always.

You should treat the VM just as you would any other computer. It has nothing to do with the security configuration of the host that it runs under. If it faces the Internet, then it is subject to the same threats that any other Internet-facing machine would be - physical or otherwise.

Thank you for the response. So it's safe to assume that you then run an anti virus program on your Guests?

An alternative view:

You only need AV in the guest if you care about the guest being infected. Which, for example, I don't - I would just delete the guest and either restore it from an uninfected backup, or create a new one. It's not like a new VM costs me money.

Just make sure you don't copy executable files to the host without checking them first. A non-resident malware scanner is good for that.
