This Virtual Box application is great! I can now run all my old XP devices on my brand new Windows 8.1 desktop!
Four questions:
-Can I get Virtualbox to recognize automatically USB devices attached to it, once I restrart host? Haven't been able to find a way yet. Filters don't work. Have to reinitiate every USB device connected that I want to run on VB;
-The Windows XP Os that came with XPMVirtualbox has a 30 days trial limit: is this something to worry about? Will I have to reload XPM every 30 days?
-Once I take a snapshot (Host+T) of my guest, I loose control of the mouse: have to restar host computer to get things to normal. What is causing this?
-I have never been able to get CTRL Right to activate/deactivate mouse. Lukily, there's the add-on that helped...

I'm surprised that an XP Mode image runs at all on a Windows 8.x host.

I'm not sure what you mean by "something to worry about". Yes, it means that you'll have to delete the VM after 30 days. Basically it'll be a toy since you can't install any long term apps. Some people will no doubt fight with it, looking for ways to fool the clock etc. IMHO with the time spent on that it would be cheaper to buy a legal copy.

I would suggest that you'd feel a lot and do a lot better with a proper XP license. I see XP licenses going for quite reasonable prices on eBay, though of course you buy from any eBay vendor at your own risk. Just make sure you are not buying a branded OEM setup disk (i.e. not HP, Dell etc), as these are often tied to that manufacturers hardware. You want a generic XP Pro setup CD. Also check the fine print and make sure you get a genuine COA and a hologrammed CD, and that it isn't an upgrade disk, or a "restore" disk.

Genuine XP setup CDs will be SP2 or earlier, as SP3 came out after XP stopped shipping.

yes, I can run SPMVirtual on Windows 8.1 host. No problems so far, except for the small glitches I mentionned earlier.
As for the XP OS that came with it, I have figured a way around: I do possess a rightly licensed XP Professionnal CD that I installed in the same Virtual Machine. So far, they seem to coexist peacefully. On start-up, guess is asking me wich OS I want. I think I'm ready for when the first OS will time out.
I now need to know if it is normal that all USB devices have to be reinitiated at every host reboot.
What about CTRL Right not being recognized? A Windows 8 thing? Keyboard maybe? I use a french-canadian one.
