Cant image virtual machine with lite touch

When i create a new fixed vm through virtualbox and boot into our imaging server it gets stuck on formatting and partitioning the disk. So i rebooted back into the share and went to the command prompt and listed the disks with disk part and it found none. I follow the same basic steps with vmware and it creates a disk with the amount of space ive requested.
So i loaded a windows 7 iso there to boot to and it saw the disk right away. So as a test i created a partition with it and then shut it down and netbooted back into our share. I checked with disk part and it saw the disk now with the right amount of space. I rebooted to go back into image and again it failed so i checked with disk part again and the partition was gone and it wouldnt list any disks.
So i repeated the above process and it then made it past formatting but failed as soon as it started to inject the drivers.
Not sure why when i create a fixed disk it doesnt create a disk that lite touch can see. I have confirmed all settings are identical to that of virtual machines that i have in vmware. I am assuming it has to do with the actual disk than anything else. But am lost to what i am doing wrong.
