Widows 8 not showing my USB devices

When I am in my Windows 8.1 VM I can plug my usb devices into the host computer and Windows will register a sound that it recognizes there is a device plugged in. However it does not show this device. I have USB 2.0 enabled I even have the USB device named and added as a device I want to use. I have also installed the extpack on my host. Where am I going wrong? If you need the guest logs...I can provide them...just tell me what you need to see because last time I did this I supplied the wrong files
