silly Windows. :D I still don't get why a 1040x848 window won't fit in a 1280x1024 monitor.

I am having an issue where when I run windows 10 tech preview x64 it doesn't go full screen. I have tried downloading the guest additions at least a 100 different ways using different compatibility modes and using and not using 2d and 3d acceleration. Each time I attempt to download the guest additions, I do not get an error. It seems like everything goes right. It tells me it wants to restart and when it does, it doesn't seem like the guest additions downloaded. Each time I tried I would go to screen resolution and see if my resolution 1366x768 but It does not work. I have also tried something that was suggested in this forum. Going to the command prompt of the host machine which for me is Windows 8.1 x64. I am also using VirtualBox version 4.3.20. I wrote VBoxManage setextradata "<C:\Users\Matthew\VirtualBox VMs\Windows 10 64bit\windows 10 64bit.vhd" "CustomVideoMode1" "1366x768x32" inside the command prompt , but nothing really happened. I understand that to have full screen guest additions needs to be downloaded on the guest machine but it is not exactly working. I would like to know is there anything im missing? Is it incompatible. I should not that the windows 10 build im running is 9926. Because there was no error or anything I don't know if I need to show something.

As is mentioned a dozen times or so elsewhere, the guest additions do not work with Windows 10 build 9926. You have to use a custom video mode to get a larger screen which is mentioned earlier in this thread.

I tried using video mode but nothing changed. I don't think I even got an error. I will attempt again but i would like to know where I have to put quotes and where I have to put less than or greater than signs. And in the path to section does it have to be a vhi file or can i use vhd.

the less than and greater signs are not to be included. the quotes surround the full path name.

I am running Build 9926 TP with VirtualBox-4.3.21-97963, extpak 4.3.21-97566 and VBoxGuestAdditions_4.3.21-97986.iso and have been able to use the vboxmanage setextradata command and add a screen resolution option that is a 16 by 9 aspect ratio and produces a window at the same resolution of my HD laptop (1920x1080) of (1440x810) that covers .75 of my screen.

I opened a command prompt and changed to the directory where Virtualbox is installed.
C:>CD \Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox

C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox>vboxmanage setextradata "Win10x64B9926" "CustomVideoMode1" "1440x810x32"

To check what the setting is:
C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox>vboxmanage getextradata "Win10x64B9926" "CustomVideoMode1"
Value: 1440x810x32

Maybe ED1975 can use the above information. :)

As others have reported, the shared folder on my installation indicates it is disconnected but does still function.
