I ran into the issue described above. I have now installed the above fix KB3024777 for the buggy Windows update KB3004394 but I can not install using VirtualBox-4.3.20-96997-Win.exe (see attached images). No install log file was created even though I ran it on commandline with --logging switch. Antivirus did not registered any blocked.
OS: Windows 7 Professional SP1
Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10

I'm afraid that repairing host OS damage caused by Windows Update is a bit beyond our remit here. I suggest that you Google for advice. The two links below might be a good start.
