recovery with a clonezilla image, how to import?

Hello,
i did create a Diskimage with clonezilla of my old Linux box.
Now i would like to boot this old image in Virtualbox.
I did boot the clonezilla iso, but how can I mount my external harddisk which contains the old system image?
I tried to attach the USB disk when clonezilla asks me, but without luck.
How can I proceed?
btw:
Is there a way to create an 1to1 image of the old harddisk using windows and save all the trouble?

Nobody uses CloneZilla to image a Windows PC. Use
Disk2VHD. However VHD isn't a great format, so you should convert it to VDI (using
CloneVDI) before use.

Probably the easiest way is to get an iso image-maker program (free on the web - ImgBurn works well for Windows), and slip the Clonezilla disk image into an iso. Then attach the iso to the guest through the virtual CD drive, which ought to show up in the guest as a big CD.
Keep in mind that the restored file is expecting to go back on the computer it was backed up from, and the guest you're restoring it to will have almost entirely different hardware. Be prepared to fix issues from that - search this: "P2V site:forums.virtualbox.org" on Google for further info.

While that is possible, to avoid confusion I'd like to point out that packing the disk image in an ISO is only needed if you insist on using CloneZilla, which I don't recommend unless you enjoy unnecessary pain. Use Disk2VHD as previously mentioned.

Will Disk2VHD work on an old Linux box?
Rupertt said it was an old image, too, maybe the Linux box doesn't exist anymore, at least in the state it was when the image was taken?

Oh. For some reason his last sentence ("... image of the old hard disk using Windows") made me think he was imaging a Windows PC.
In that case,
this old thread of mine discussed various options for solving a problem of this type.
