Memory use more than allocated

Using vbox 4.3.18 r96516 with ubuntu x64 guest on win7 x64 host os.
Though allocated 1.5GB as main memory , gradually vbox consumes memory as high as 3-4 gb (win task manager) and before host becomes slow and unresponsive.
Fix is to reboot again and loosing the work.

Found shared file or network resource can cause this. I have both.

Is it we need to disable both to fix this?
Or any short fix since I cant live without the both?

Moved to Windows host as that is where you issue really is.
