I can't install latest Ubuntu releases on VirtualBox?

I am having problem installing latest Ubuntu releases. The installs run painfully slow and i am getting lots of errors. The "newest" version i manage to install without errors was Ubuntu 6.10 but it still run slow even if i set 1GB ram for the machine. I tried to install also on of the latest release of Puppy Linux but i couldn't.

Is this normal for the specification of my laptop:

I have other Windows virtual machines and they run without problems and faster then linux machine and i thought linux OS will run faster because they are laightwaight. At least that is what i had read.

I would avoid Puppy Linux just because of the lack of guest additions.

edit: your CPU has no VT-x support so things will be somewhat slow. With only 2GB of RAM on the host running Windows 7 you probably should only be using at the most 512 for the guest.

Attach the vbox.log (compressed) for your ubuntu guest.

btw, there are alternatives to Ubuntu that take up less resources and should run faster such as Lubuntu.

This are the log files.
I checked my BIOS settings and i don't have settings for Virtualization Technology and my Accelaration tab in the System settings is grayed out.
I also get error in the beginning: smbus base uninitialized upgrade bios of Force_addr=0xaddr

Normally it is recommended for a guest to be assigned 50% of the host's available RAM. In this case the guest would have to be assigned only 256MBs.

I would say adding memory would help but with all the other issues it doesn't seem you could run Ubuntu very well as a guest anyway.

I managed to install Ubuntu Server 10.04.4 and it seem it is running fine but how to install the guest additions? Everything is in text mode and i am not very experienced with the text mode.
I also get this message when i start the machine:
Your CPU appears to be lacking expected security protections. Please check your BIOS settings, or for information run: /usr/bin/check-bios-nx --verbose

Is this because my BIOS doesn't support visualization?

When i run the command i get this:
This CPU is family 6, model 15, and has NX capabilities but is unable to use these protective features because the BIOS is configured to disable the capability. Please enable this in your BIOS.
