Update to 4.3.20 has broken host Internet access

Hi, I first installed vbox around October 2014 and have successfully used it to host a Linux guest. No problems whatsoever.

Last night I needed to run a Win 8.1 x64 guest so I set that up too. No problems whatsoever. To do what I need to do I noted that I need to install the usb 2.0 extension pack. So, before doing that I decided to update vbox to the latest version.

Immediately after installing the update my host Internet connection died. I rebooted the guest and the host with no success. I notice that in my host network options it shows host only Ethernet.

Host: win 8 x64
guest: win 8.1 x64

Any ideas please?

Find the "recipe" of the VM, by right-clicking on the VM and choose Show in Explorer. Zip it and attach it along with a zipped VBox.log. The latter is found if you right-click and select Show log. The guest has to be shutdown in order to post a complete log.

BTW, 4 hours is not a long period to wait for an answer...

Hmm. I will need to apply some thought as to how I can post anything without an Internet connection. I'm writing this from my phone.

OK just to let you know I fixed it by deleting the host only Ethernet connection in the host os.
