Hi I am new to Virtualbox and just installed it which worked fine, then I downloaded ubuntu image file for virtualbox as instructions told me, then I ran virtualbox and added the image. Then when clicking start I get the black screen the it says fail to load. on the pop up it says "no error message"

Virtual box I choose the newest download.

I have windows 7, I choose ubuntu 12.10 but ive tried all sorts, maybe 10 different ones, same thing.

You most probably have a corrupt download. Where exactly did you download Ubuntu from? Did you check the checksums (SHA, MD5, etc.)?

Yes, perhaps the OP had 10 different bad downloads.
