Boot Failure with converted .vhd from Hyper-V

Hi,

I'm currently having big trouble attaching a converted .vhd image to my virtual machine in VirtualBox.
The .vhd image is coming from a Windows 8 system, where the .vhdx image from Hyper-V was converted to .vhd and given to me afterwards.
I tried google, but I couldn't find anything helpful. Like I tried to put the image on both IDE- and SATA-Controller, but both don't work.
When I try to boot my virtual machine, I get the error "FATAL: INT18: BOOT FAILURE".

I don't really know where to start of really...
Any idea how I can get my VirtualBox to boot the .vhd image?

So you want help getting an illegal image of Windows 8 created on some other person's machine working in VirtualBox?

Why illegal image of Windows 8? What I meant was that the host machine of my colleague is Windows 8 and as far as I know they use Hyper-V on Windows 8. My host machine is Windows 7.

@AnonX: legal matters aside (i.e. that you need your own Win8 license - but you'll discover that when Win8 asks to be reactivated), we probably can't help anyway. VirtualBox can read the VHD format, but that doesn't mean that anything you can wrap in a VHD container will run in a VirtualBox VM. There are lots of possible reasons for boot failure, for example the VHD may not contain a bootable partition, and it's quite likely that you attached it to the wrong disk controller type.
