I've installed Virtual Box on my Windows 8 host. Can't get the USB mouse to respond. Virtual Box does not see to recognize attached USB devices.
Can anyone help, please!!

Re: Virtual box and USB devices
You should not be stealing your USB mouse (or keyboard) from your host to assign to your VM. The host needs those devices too. Make sure that USB in the VM settings is either disabled, or uses a filter which can't cause these devices to be grabbed.
Only create filters to grab USB devices which are to be used exclusively by one VM. Neither the host nor other VMs will have access.

Re: Virtual box and USB devices
The guest additions have been installed. Saved the log file, but what do I attach it to? Memory for the guest is default used during installation. Just noticed that now that the VM is running the mouse does not work in the host either.
Re: Virtual box and USB devices
I use the VM to run AutoCad 2005 in XP. The mouse works withing the AutoCad drawing window, but not in the toolbars.
Re: Virtual box and USB devices
My version of Virtual Box is 4.3.20.

At the bottom of the message form. Zip it before you attach it.Mons wrote:Saved the log file, but what do I attach it to?
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.
