Windows 8.1 Bootcamp Partition--OpenGL Version 2.0?

I have installed Virtualbox 4.3.2 on OS X Yosemite host, using Windows 8.1 Bootcamp partition as boot disk for the virtual machine. Guest additions and extension pack are installed, and 2D and 3D acceleration is enabled. This is working very well aside from this particular issue: OpenGL version 1.1 is available, but I need version 2.0 at minimum for my graphics programs to work properly. Is there a way to enable PCI passthrough or upgrade the graphics driver for this virtual machine? I would appreciate any help.

Not really. Virtual machines use virtual hardware and the virtual hardware in VirtualBox does not support all the features of OpenGL. Dual-boot is your best chance in cases like these.

That is a disappointment--especially since I was so excited about finally figuring out how to use my Windows 8 bootcamp partition in VirtualBox. The VM integrates very well and is working nicely except for the OpenGL issue. Do you suppose there is any chance of improved OpenGL support in the near future? Thanks for your response.

I wouldn't have the faintest idea. Your guess is as good as mine. VMs are good for some things and suck at others, one of them being graphics. And that's not a guess, it's a fact, which cannot be easily overcome.
