looking for new retina imac (virtual Linux) experience

Hi folks,
before spending some k$ in a retina imac can you provide your feed back with virtualbox in osx guest for serious work (no games) ?
I will mainly use Linux (some times Windows) for software development. I dont need big 3D numbers but I always have a big number of text screen simultaneously opened (...and tired looking for them).
What is the maximum linux guest resolution when the osx host is at is max ?
Has are oracle intent to support full resolution of the imac ?
