Windows 7 x64 virtio-net bridged mode error code 10

I am having a major issue getting the virtio-net driver working on a Windows 7 x64 guest OS.
When installing the virtio-net driver downloaded from the fedora website (virtio-win-0.1-94.iso), the ethernet adapter is recognised as a Redhat virtio adapter but gives an error: code 10, unable to start the device.
The issue happens both on a Windows Host and an Ubuntu Host.
When selecting the Intel 1000 MT driver, everything works as expected.
When selecting NAT instead of Bridged Mode, everything works as expected.
Using the virtio-net driver with a Ubuntu guest works fine.
Due to performance and IP requirements, I need to use the virtio-net driver combined with Bridged Mode.
I am at a loss as to what I can try next. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?
